GENERAL INFORMATION FOR SILVER KING LODGE
Some Rod and Reel clients say, "It is the worlds best tarpon fishing lodge." Silver King offers luxurious accommodations, gourmet meals, newest boats and the best guides on the east coast of Costa Rica. Silver King Lodge is a very nice, fairly new (in relation to some of the others) lodge on the Rio Colorado River in Northeast Costa Rica on the Caribbean side. The food, the boats, the tackle, and the captains are all top notch. You'll be targeting the mighty tarpon as well as snook in the rivers and offshore over the bar of the Rio Colorado when conditions allow. The jungle setting is great for wildlife viewing and simply the experience of the rainforest.
Silver King Lodge is located in "Barra del Colorado", which is approximately 140 miles from San Jose in the extreme Northeastern Caribbean Coast and is the second largest rainforest preserve in Central America.
The landscape is comprised of tropical forest, fluvial islands, channels and swamp lands. With its many rivers, creeks and lagoons, this is a fantastic place to fish, and is among the best sport fishing destinations in the world. Snook, Snapper, Mackerel and Tarpon are the main sport fish caught around here. But the tarpon fishing is what this place is known for.
FISHING INFORMATION AT SILVER KING LODGE
Costa Rica is home to the some of the largest Tarpon in the world. Tarpon (Megalops atlanticus) are the "Silver Kings" of our coastal waters and can grow beyond 6 feet in length and weigh as much as 350 lbs.
The Tarpon is known for its spectacular leaps when hooked in an attempt to get away. The world record for Tarpon caught using a hook and line is 281 lbs. When afraid, the tarpon produces sound in the form of thumps using its swim bladder.
At Silver King Lodge, we specialize in finding these silver beauties - the legendary tarpon.
We employ local tarpon fishing guides with a combined cumulative experience of almost 200 years!
With our knowledgeable guides on staff, we are so certain that you'll enjoy your stay with us, that we offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee!
If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your tarpon fishing vacation at Silver King Lodge, we will book you into any lodge in the area, and apply the unused portion of your trip to the lodge of your choice. No questions, no excuses, no problems, and we will transport you there free of charge!
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES AT SILVER KING LODGE
Besides the legendary tarpon fishing you can choose from eating gourmet food, relaxing by the pool, soaking in the jacuzzi, or watching monkeys and tapirs from your room. This is a true FISHING LODGE. But add on an extra day in San Jose is easy and there is plenty to do there. Volcano tour, golf, and casinos are a few of the options!
SEASON AT SILVER KING LODGE
The tarpon fishing is best from February through May and in September and October.
