Belize is tropical. It's almost always 80-90 degrees and sometimes you'll get a stray rain shower during your stay. All dress is casual, and you want to wear muted natural colors when fishing. Some lodges offer laundry service, some do not. Always pack light, because it's a simple chore to wash your own clothes in the shower if necessary and they will dry during the day.

IMPORTANT:  Some international airports now regulate carrying on fishing reels with line on them and flies and lures. It's a good idea to check all gear rather than carry it on.

FISHING GEAR FOR BELIZE FISHING

The fishing lodges in Belize are legendary. Some provide all the tackle you'll need, while others don't. Here is a list of some saltwater gear you may want to consider bringing along with you:

7-8-9-10 Weight Flyrod
Fly reel with 150 yards of 30# dacron backing and both a floating and at least one sink-tip flyline for the nine or ten weight.

Medium action spinning rod and reel with 150-200 yards of 10-16# monofilament fishing line.

The guides at our Belize fishing lodges will have plenty of flies but sometimes it's good to have a few of your own.
