GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ANDROS ISLAND BONEFISH CLUB, BAHAMAS
The largest island in the Bahamas and one of the least populated, Andros Island is known as the bonefishing capital of the world. Andros Island is also home to the world famous Andros Island Bonefishing Club. Located at the mouth of Cargill Creek, a 27 mile fresh water stream, and built on the site of a 250 year old sasil plantation, Andros Island Bonefishing Club takes you away from it all and puts you within a fly cast of some of the best bonefishing in the world.

There are few places in the angling world where you can expect to reliably find trophy-sized bonefish. Andros Island Bonefishing Club is one of those places. In the areas surrounding Andros Island, known as "The Land of the Giants," bonefish that exceed 10 pounds regularly test angler’s skills.

Owner Rupert Leadon is one of the most experienced guides on the island and has personally trained all the guides at the Club. The guides expertly navigate over 100 square miles of pristine flats, including the uninhabited west side, in search of the best spots for trophy-sized bones. If the stellar bonefishing doesn’t excite you enough, less than a mile to the east is a deep channel called the "Tongue of the Ocean," which drops from shallow water to thousands of feet deep. From this channel, huge barracuda work their way onto the flats. It is not uncommon to see cudas of four feet or longer in water less than a foot deep, and they will readily take a well-placed fly or lure.

FISHING INFORMATION AT ANDROS ISLAND BONEFISH CLUB, BAHAMASAndros-Island-Anglers.jpg

Andros Island is considered the ultimate experience in sight fishing for bones. There are more fishable flats than any other location in the Caribbean. These flats are world famous for not only having large numbers of bonefish, but also trophy-sized bones. Under the right weather conditions, anglers can expect to cast at bones between 5-10 pounds daily.

Anglers fish from 16-foot Dolphin Super Skiffs, complete with poling platforms and spacious casting decks. They are roomy, fast and comfortable. Captain Rupert Leadon personally leads and trains all of his knowledgeable staff of native guides. They are highly skilled and experienced saltwater flats fishing guides. Many of the guides have well over ten years of experience.

There are more than just bonefish in these warm Caribbean waters. Permit can sometimes be found in certain areas along the eastern shore of Andros. While certainly not in large numbers, tarpon make an occasional appearance on the western side of the island. Barracuda, lemon sharks, black tip sharks, jacks and snapper can also be caught on the flats.

Andros Island Bonefishing Club policy is catch and release for all sportfishing.
