FIVE RIVERS GUIDES - DEAN FINNERTY

Details

Five Rivers Guide Service offers year round fishing on Willamette, McKenzie, Smith, Umpqua, Siuslaw rivers and Winchester Bay. Come fish with us on the Umpqua, one of Oregon's most diversified rivers. We fish for sturgeon, striped bass, small mouth bass, shad and Oregon's most famous fish, salmon and steelhead.

Dean Finnerty has been guiding people on quality fishing trips on most of the rivers, streams and bays of Oregon since he was a teenager. In college he was a fisheries major, studying the species he specializes in today, the Sturgeon, Salmon, & Steelhead.

He is a published author on topics related to fly fishing for Steelhead and other outdoor-related topics in national fishing journals and magazines. He has invented several flies that have caught literally thousands of winter and summer steelhead and spent four years as a "purist" using only a fly rod on all of his salmon and steelhead trips year round.

Dean currently uses many different tried and proven techniques to get his clients into fish consistently. Whether it's pulling "cut plug" herring on Oregon bays for Fall Chinook or using whole shad for oversize sturgeon, Dean will teach you what tactics and techniques work the best on any given day for the species you're after.

We provide all of the tackle on our trips, whether it be heavy duty Penn reels and hand built custom rods for our sturgeon trips to our ultra-light spinning outfits for shad, we use only top of the line gear such as ABU-Garcia, Shimano, Penn, Lamiglass and Orvis. If you have your own fishing tackle that you would like to learn to use, we can accommodate that as well. Dean has been a fly fishing instructor for more than 20 years and has taught fly-casting and presentation to both professional and beginning anglers.

We specialize in catch and release on most of our Steelhead, Trout, Small Mouth Bass and on all of our "Over Size" Sturgeon fishing trips. We recognize that many people enjoy catching fish for the table, but also understand that if our fishing resources are to last into the future, then now is the time to embrace conservation efforts for all the species we fish for. We recommend that our clients bring video camera's or 35 mm type cameras on their adventures to capture some of the scenes of the day. It is not uncommon for us to see Bald Eagles, Osprey, Seal/Sea Lion, Grey Whales, ducks, geese, deer, elk, bear and numerous other species of wildlife while on most of the rivers and bays that we fish. Dean can also make arrangements to have your trophy mounted by some of the top taxidermists around or have your fish "air shipped" anywhere in the world.

Our Goal at 5 Rivers Guide Service is to give you the best guided fishing trip in the state of Oregon, one that you will cherish the memories of, for years to come.
