GENERAL INFORMATION FOR TONGARIRO LODGE
We
believe guest use of guides is essential, regardless of the skill of
the visiting angler. We strongly advise that guides are booked in
advance.
For the dedicated fisherman or woman
we offer opportunities to stalk and delicately present a dry fly to
trophy browns and rainbows in high country streams during the summer
months, upstream nymph fishing during the large rainbow spawning runs,
or casting for feeding rainbows in shallow margins of Lake Taupo and
other nearby lakes. Wilderness helicopter and
raft fishing into remote high country streams provide the chance to
fish for the trophy trout of a lifetime.
We welcome the opportunity to
introduce newcomers to trout fishing. Tongariro Guides teach eager
learners the fine art of fly fishing from the beginning. We provide the
enjoyment of a day's trolling on Lake Taupo in comfortable surveyed
boats. No experience necessary.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES AT TONGARIRO LODGE
Guests at Tongariro Lodge are able to choose from a diverse range of outdoor activities. Tongariro
National Park is an all year outdoor playground - right on our
doorstep. In 45 minutes you could be off into the mountains for a day's
heli-hiking or you could be on the slopes of Mount Ruapehu, an active
volcano.
There are five first class golf
courses all within 45 minutes of the Lodge or enjoy a leisurely drive
around the shore of the lake to the town of Taupo with its many
attractions.
The Tongariro River is on our
doorstep. Whitewater raft grade 3 rapids or enjoy long glides through
pristine pools and deep gorges as you observe wildlife and ancient
beech forests. One of our favourites is the upper river half-day grade
3 trip. All are fully guided trips with all equipment supplied.
Scenic helicopter and fixed wing
flights will allow views of active volcanic craters, deep lakes, snow
fed rivers and bush-clad ridges from the air.
Or you can enjoy a guided scenic horse trek through native forests in the Tongariro National Park.

HOW TO GET TO TONGARIRO LODGE
You'll
fly into Auckland or Wellington, North Island, New Zealand, and then
fly into TAUPO airport. You will be met and transferred by auto to the
lodge. We can help you arrange your flights or you can call your travel
agent or search for flights online.

- 12.5% New Zealand Government Goods and Service tax is additional to all above rates.
- The $US rate set on 25 July 2003 should be used as a
guide only due to currency fluctuations. All payments to be remitted in
New Zealand dollars.

You will be required to provide proof of citizenship to enter New Zealand. Passport is required.
Print
two copies of the page in your passport, which includes your picture,
passport number, issue and expiration date. Keep one copy in your
wallet or pocket and one in your luggage. This can be very
helpful entering and leaving the country if your passport is lost.
