GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALEKNAGIK ISLAND LODGE
If
you are looking for the Alaskan fishing experience of a lifetime, then
Aleknagik Island Lodge may be it. They are located on a private 4.5
acre island on lake Aleknagik, which is part of the Wood River
Tikchik lakes system, in the heart of the famous Bristol Bay sport
fishing region. Owner/Operators Mike and Debbie Chaussee will use their
years of Alaskan guiding experience to show you some of the finest
sport fishing you will ever see.
Using 20ft. jet boats they access over 90 miles of
connecting rivers and lakes, to fish for all five species of Pacific
salmon, in addition to Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Arctic Greyling, and
Northern Pike. You will fish eight hour days and be fed until you can't
eat any more. Do not plan on dieting this week.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES AT ALEKNAGIK ISLAND LODGE
This is a fishing lodge on an island. There is not much to do if
you don't plan on fishing. You could spend the day viewing the abundant
wildlife, searching the beach for agates, or try your hand at hiking,
boating, or photography. If you'd rather take it easy, kick back in
comfort at the main lodge with a video or just curl up with a good
book. But we don't recommend this as the place for the non-angling
crowd.
SEASON AT ALEKNAGIK ISLAND LODGE
The fishing season runs from June
to October and starts and ends based on weather conditions. Like most
of Alaska, the rainbow fishing is great early and late and the salmon
make the middle of the season unbelievable. Probably the best overall
month for Alaska is August. If you want August dates...BOOK EARLY!!
They go fast. Below is a chart that shows the various species and their
seasons.
